MONDAY 1 JUNE 2020

Good morning friends,

How was your weekend?

With the easing of some of the lockdown restrictions I wonder if any of you were able to meet up with some family or friends.? I had visits here to the garden at Braehead House, from a few members, and it was great to see them, albeit from the accepted social distancing.

On Sunday it was my eldest grandson, Jamie’s 16th birthday, and although I did not get to go and see him, I had a lovely chat with him on the phone. He was born just two weeks after Pentecost and I can remember the sheer joy and excitement surrounding his birth, for he was the start of the next generation in our family. This year his birthday just happened to fall on Pentecost Sunday itself.

I wonder if you took the opportunity on Sunday to reflect on what happened on the day the Church was birthed, when they Holy Spirit came upon the followers of Jesus were gathered together in one place found in Acts 2. On that day the OT prophecy of Joel came to pass.

From that moment the Holy Spirit’s power was loosed into the whole world, and as Peter stood up and preached the Good News of the Gospel of Christ, more and more people believed the message and were set free from their sins and received the gift of the Holy Spirit.

The apostles were on fire with the good news that day and we are the bearers of that same message in these days.

It’s interesting to read how the early believers conducted themselves in the days following the coming of the Spirit, and in this coming week I want to reflect on this with you as we consider how we, as a Healing Fellowship is resourced so that we may share in the ministry of Jesus in this our generation.

The passage can be found in Acts 2: 42-47.

“They devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.”

For I’m building a people of power For I’m making a people of praise That will move through this land by My Spirit And will glorify My precious Name

Build your church Lord Make us strong Lord Join our hearts Lord Through Your Son Make us one Lord

In Your body In the kingdom of Your Son

God bless you this new day.
