SATURDAY JUNE 6 2020

SATURDAY 6 JUNE 2020

Good morning friends,

The above photo is another from one of my travelling days on the Camino Santiago. All along the way there were various messages left to inspire others.

This message was brought to mind as I read the daily message I receive from the Glasgow Prophetic Centre which spoke of the changed heart which comes when we yield our lives to the prompting of the Holy Spirit.

Ezekiel 11:19 “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh.”

Deuteronomy 30:6

“The LORD your God will circumcise your hearts and the hearts of your descendants, so that you may love him with all your heart and with all your soul, and live.”

A story: When I lived in Menstrie there was a teenager in my street who begged his mum for months to buy him a pair of very expensive top brand trainers. She resisted is pleas for a long time, but eventually he wore her down and she agreed he could have a pair for his birthday.

So, mum and son set off for Princes Street, Edinburgh to purchase said trainers. The boy put them on at once and binned his old scruffy ones. He was so pleased and told his mum he would meet her back at the car as she had more shopping to do.

They met up as planned and set off for home. It was only as they were nearly home that his mum looked down into the passenger footwell and saw her son’s bare feet. She asked if his new trainers were hurting his him, only to be told he’s given them away.

She told me later that she’d stopped the car and began shouting at her son; she just couldn’t understand what he’d been thinking. When he managed to get a word in he explained.

As he was walking back to the car he stopped to speak to a young man who was sitting in a doorway, asking for money to buy something to eat. Our boy gave him the few coppers he had, but noticed that the beggar’s shoes had cardboard in the soles covering up holes.

“Mum, my heart just couldn’t bear it” “I just had to give my trainers away, and guess what they were just the right fit”

This young man was a new Christian, and it seems that his heart had been touched that day by the prompting of the Holy Spirit living within him. In later years that same heart of compassion was evident in his working life looking after recently released young offenders as they tried to make a new start.

“All the believers were together and had everything in common. They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need.” Acts 2: 45

Another message that I saw almost every day as I walked the Camino posed the question,

“How’s your heart today?”

So?............................

God bless your day.

y.
